Then Sings My Soul Saturday – Simple Gifts

then_sings_my_soul

I unpacked my dulcimer last night – I’d carried it here myself in my car when we moved and tucked it up high on a closet shelf. I didn’t trust the movers enough to let them put it on the truck and get it here safely. I sat down on the sofa after Russ went to bed and strummed quietly into the night.

Simple Gifts

‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free,
‘Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend, we shan’t be ashamed,
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right

‘Tis the gift to be simple, ‘Tis gift to be free,
‘Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend, we shan’t be ashamed,
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right
Till by turning, turning we come round right
