The Simple Woman’s Daybook for Monday, July 13
Outside my window… it is already late afternoon. The day is almost done and I haven’t gotten to my Daybook yet!
I am thinking… that sometimes it’s okay to work at a pace that works for me. Lately that pace has been rather slow.
I am thankful for… experiencing the gospel music of the Harmonizing Stars – an acapella group whose ministry is singing in the Boston subway – at the JesusFest yesterday. It wasn’t just a performance, it was an experience – I felt the prayer and rejoicing moving through and beyond the audience. Amazing Grace.
From the learning rooms… Maya has another week of morning summer camp; we’re working on earning certificates in the summer reading program at the library (and enjoying the books as we go!); there is a lawn concert at the museum this week (in the evening though, so we’ll see how much energy Grammy has at the end of the day) and another family concert at the library on Friday.
Today we also learned that if toys, game and puzzle pieces and art supplies are not put away in their rightful places at the end of the day ( not just shoved somewhere out of sight) -
then Grammy will be coming by with a box and putting all strays on the shelf in the closet.
I was not happy to find that we were missing pieces from three of our four new wooden puzzles.
We found the pieces – along with many other treasures that we’ve been missing – a rewarding finish to a rather stern session of sorting.
From the kitchen… macaroni/cheese/ham casserole, green beans, sliced apples.
I am wearing… a cornflower print shirt, cotton drawstring pants, barefeet
I am creating… puppy bandannas
I am going… I’m not sure yet… we’ll see…
I am reading… Redemption Song by Bertice Berry
I am hoping… still hoping to hear from the senior housing office about our new apartment. Hope with me, please?
I am hearing… the hum of the fan behind me.
Around the house… the toys are tidy….
One of my favorite things… it’s a new favorite thing – people who sing the gospel in the subway. WoW!
A few plans for the rest of the week: I’d like to go to the lawn concert on Wednesday – a mix of traditional New Orleans jazz and Cajun music. I spent some of my happiest days during our trip to New Orleans in 2003 – it would be fun to have an evening of listening nostalgia.
Here is picture thought I am sharing..
He Did! I was blessed – Big Time!
Thank you to everyone who has linked here again with their Summer Daybooks. I love it!
The Simple Woman’s Daybook originated with Peggy Hostetler at The Simple Woman blog. Peggy is on vacation for the summer – I added a Mr. Linky widget here hoping that the Summer Daybook ladies will find it and link in. I am so, so happy to see so many Daybooks joining mine!

Thanks again – so MUCH!! – for hosting this over the summer!
Hi, Grandmother Wren,
It’s almost bedtime here and I’m just starting my Daybook post. Just wanted to let you know I’m hoping with you on the apartment you want!
i’m a little late this week. thanks for doing this!
What happened to all the links on Peggy’s blog? I used Mr. Linky there Monday, but by Tuesday night all the links, for the past few months, had vanished.
So I’m glad I can link here.

Good luck with the apartment! Had to laugh about your learning post. It’s amazing how quickly little ones can destroy a perfectly clean room!
