The Simple Woman’s Daybook for Monday, July 6
Outside my window… a beautiful summer day – sunny, breezy, not too hot
I am thinking… that there is a big difference between the feeling of ” I don’t feel entirely well … I’m tired” and ” I’ve gotten a lot done today – I’m tired”. Today I’m feeling the latter and it feels good!
I am thankful for… a very nice 4th of July afternoon spent with my family – four generations enjoying hot dogs, hamburgers and just being together.
From the learning rooms… two weeks of morning summer camp begins this week.
From the kitchen… we’ll be able to pick blueberries by midweek – blueberry cobbler, muffins and pancakes coming up!
I am wearing… a button front shirt with muted stripes, drawstring cotton pants, bare feet. My hair is finally long enough to put up in a messy sort of poof on top of my head…. oohh, my hair gives me the suffering!!! For the past few weeks I’ve felt that I strongly resembled Eunice on the old Mama’s Family show. Not Carol Burnett’s best look and surely not mine!
I am creating… I’ve finished the bed I was making for our soon to be new puppy, I’ve started knitting a tiny bandanna for her
I am going… to work very hard at practicing patience waiting for word on our new home and our new puppy. I don’t think patience, by definition, is supposed to require such effort but you have to start from where you are and I’m not much good at patience. For me – it takes work!
I am reading… still reading The Moon Under Her Feet
I am hoping… for a week of nice weather for the summer camp children (and the staff !)
I am hearing… U2 playing on the radio next to my desk, the news on the TV in the living room. Russ is in the shower – why is the news on?
Around the house… a happy little pile of puppy toys tucked into the bed I made.
One of my favorite things… puppies?
A few plans for the rest of the week: enjoying a couple of free hours every morning while Maya is at camp; it’s time for the annual PFT and 6 minute walk this Thursday before the annual pulmo appointment next Thursday. I intend to ace them both. Why not? I feel fine – better than I did last year!
Here is picture thought I am sharing

The Simple Woman’s Daybook originated with Peggy Hostetler at The Simple Woman blog. Peggy is on vacation for the summer – I added a Mr. Linky widget here hoping that the Summer Daybook ladies will find it and link in. I am so, so happy to see so many Daybooks joining mine!

I’m laughing thinking of your Eunice look. I remember the night my mom and I watched the first episode of Mama’s Family and we laughed so hard. “Mama” reminded us so much of my grandmother.
Blueberries! What fun and what goodies to make and eat!
What beautiful hydrangeas. They are some of most favorite flowers and the blue/purple ones are the prettiest in my opinion.
Hope all of your tests and appointments go fine.
Love the hydrangea picture. Ours are blooming as well! Hoping you have a great week ahead!
I love puppies too!

…. it does feel good when you’ve done lots of things you’re meant to do or need to do. It’s easy to feel the former when you don’t want to do things – all that thinking about not wanting to do it can make us tired, lol.
Thanks for hosting The Simple Woman’s Daybook! Have a wonderful week!
All those generations together – that’s wonderful! My husband and I were just talking the other day about how neither his side of the family nor mine have family reunions.
Hoping you hear soon about your home and your puppy!
I posted my daybook picture before I saw yours – are both pics of the same kind of flower?
Have a wonderful week!
Blueberries!! My favorite. We grow raspberries here, but I am so partial to blueberries. Yum.
You sound like one busy lady!! What kind of puppy? Ours is an old puppy now – very much a senior citizen…but wouldn’t trade him for the world. Have fun with the new puppy.
Comments…..

I love blueberries, but unfortunately they make me break out in hives. You can enjoy some for me! Hope you have good camping weather. God bless.
I just love blueberries! Have fun picking them!!
I’m so jealous of picking blueberries! I’ve been buying them at the Farmer’s Market, but they still don’t taste as wonderful as freshly picked!
I agree with Ann – I am jealous that you are able to pick fresh blueberries! I am also jealous of the new puppy – puppies are such little bundles of sweet love
My, Grandmother Wren, you do have lots of ladies joining in over here.
I enjoyed the funny way you described your hairdo, and do hope you get to enjoy your new puppy soon! I can tell that pup will be greatly loved. <3
