Outside my window… lots of blue violets and purple catmint. I don’t want them to mow the back lawn this week! (but they will…)
I am thinking… of how much I have to get done in order to move. I need to break it down into small manageable chunks just to begin thinking about it effectively.
I am thankful for… cupboards and a refrigerator filled with this morning’s grocery shopping. I don’t like grocery shopping one bit, but I remain aware of how blessed I am to have a bountiful food store to shop in and enough money to buy food for our family. Much of the world is not as fortunate.
From the learning rooms… Maya is busy with the self appointed task of becoming an author. She’s spent the past few days perched on my bed with a table tray, her pencils, markers, stencils and stacks of paper illustrating her stories. When the pictures are finished, she brings the pages to me and dictates the words to her story, then uses the “staple-ator” to assemble her book. “Life at the Ocean” is her favorite storyline – she seems to be a series writer.
Maya plans to grow up and work in the circus in the summer – juggling and training cats – and in the winter she will write “famous books by Maya.”
I’m looking forward to it.
From the kitchen… a large ham is on slow bake in the oven for tomorrow. The savings on ham and pork this week were amazing – probably because of the mistaken notion that people might be able to get this new flu by eating pork.
Well, they can’t – and I cashed in on the savings.
On the other hand, chicken was ridiculously expensive. No sale there. We have chicken legs and thighs for later this week, but no boneless breasts (at $4 plus a lb.? I don’t think so…)
I am wearing… pajamas. I put them on after dinner. It’s been a tired sort of day.
I am creating… still working on the knit patchwork. This answer will remain the same for quite some time – and that’s okay. I’m enjoying the project.
I am going… nowhere noteworthy in the the near future.
I am reading… finishing up The Peppered Moth.
I am hoping… to lose two pounds this week. I’m becoming quite the fat little Grammy.
I am hearing… older children riding skateboards on the tennis court of the apartment complex next door. I probably won’t be hearing them for long – there’s a sign on the tennis court gate telling them that skateboards are not allowed inside. I’m sure someone will intervene soon.
Around the house… there is much to be done.
One of my favorite things… visiting pet shops. We went to one this weekend so I could look at the puppies and dream about the day we have one. We won’t buy a puppy from a pet store (don’t tell the pet store guy that! He let me hold puppies
) We’ll buy from a local breeder – but it was so much fun to look and hold.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Mother’s day crafts with Maya and Mother’s Day pages for my website.
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
Grampy’s birthday on Sunday with a lovely party planned and hosted by Maya – Grampy is wearing a party hat made from a miniature Christmas tree. He’s a good sport and Maya is very thriftily creative!

Your entry today reminded me of an entry in a diary from a woman in the late 1800’s that our historical society displays occasionally. I enjoyed it as I do the rest of your blog.
Happy Birthday!!!
