Posted by Grandmother Wren on Dec-18-2008

1. The Christmas Story In Art
Follow the Christmas story, including the birth of Jesus Christ and the events surrounding it, through art at the Metropolitan Museum.

2. The History Of Christmas from The History Channel
Each year, during the month of December, millions of homes across America are decorated with Christmas trees and fairy lights. But how much do you really know about this festive holiday?

3. Santa’s Secret Village
Enjoy the joy and magic of Christmas in Santa’s Secret Village! We invite you to experience a traditional look at Christmas through the many free activities here at northpole.com. Write to Santa, read stories, enjoy Karaoke, send e-cards, find recipes, play games and puzzles, print stories to color—even put you or your child in a personalized story! Our stories and activities combine traditional feelings of Christmas goodwill with state-of-the-art computer technology—all richly illustrated with original artwork.

4. A Huge Collection of Christmas Recipes from AllRecipes.com

11. Merry-Christmas.com
You’d expect a site called “Merry Christmas” to be fun, and here are more games, MP3s of Christmas carols (like the well-known “Bring A Torch, Jeanette Isabella”), recipes, films, stories and traditions.

12. A Victorian Christmas…decorate the tree… make the plum pudding… click here to create the magic!

13. I have to add this one, if for no other reason than Old Time’s Sake .
Martha Stewart’s Christmas Site (and to think I used to believe that this was the only way to go!)

Grandpa Shayne and Grammy Tandy from Grandparents TLC ( Technology to Help Loving Grandparents Connect with Grandchildren) have put together a really nice list of webpages for Grandparents and Grandchildren to enjoy -

Favorite Christmas Webpages for Grandparents

These are links to fantastic resources on the web where Grandparents can get ideas for projects, crafts, stories, gifts, etc. (and gee… they even included my Christmas pages too…)

Please stop by and visit the Grandparents TLC site - I subscribed the last time I was there so I wouldn’t miss anything new -
you might want to do that too!

Free Pass-along Kindness gift cards (I love these!)

‘Pay it Forward’ Acts of Kindness

You’ve heard the heartwarming stories about people who have committed “random acts of kindness” by tossing extra change into a toll booth for the car behind it, or by paying for a cup of coffee for the next person in line. Often the kind deed is appreciated by the recipient, and wouldn’t it be awesome if the incentive to “pass it on” is also present? Now it can be!

To help that “kind energy” to keep moving forward, Creativity Portal’s Chris Dunmire has invented one way to inspire more kind acts to continue from person to person through these Kindness Pass-Along Gift Cards. These cards are free for you to download, print, and use simply by visiting the website Here.

There’s still time to create some charming gifts – Please visit my other blog – Grandmother’s Pattern Book and take a look at what I found today. There’s a whole list of quick and easy patterns from the Lion Brand Yarn and Needlework Company. My favorites are Amigurini toys, but there are afghans to complete in only 5 1/2 hours ( that’s a couple of Christmas movies and you’re done!), socks , gloves, prayer shawls – it’s a really good list.
