Posted by Grandmother Wren on Jan-19-2010

After weeks of unusually cold temperatures accompanied by snow, snow, snow – it arrived.
The January Thaw.

We rejoiced in the day, walking one of our favorite trails through the woods.

It’s quite possible that fairies live here. We tried knocking on their wee fairy door.

Today the weather is gray and damp and threatening more snow, sleet for now and later in the week. It is times like the Thaw that remind us that Spring Always comes again.

Outdoor Wednesday – Enjoying Christmas Snow

We will definitely be having a White Christmas this year!
Maya and Grampy enjoy a morning playing in the snow while Grammy gets ready for Christmas.

It’s not as much fun being Claudia on a leash while Grampy takes pictures of Maya playing. That’s okay – in a minute Claudia will flop over on her side and begin gnawing her coat off. It’s a good strategy for getting everyone moving again. :)

Outdoor Wednesday – but first you Must Zip Your Own jacket!

A cold, sparkling autumn day – perfect for visiting the tower on Fox Hill and enjoying the colors of fall.

If only Grammy didn’t join with kindergarten teachers and insist that a five year old girl is more than capable of zipping her jacket herself. A horrible struggle before we leave on our journey – the Drama is a Wonder To Behold :)

Outdoor Wednesday – “I Jumped As High As The Trees!”

Posted by Grandmother Wren on Oct-7-2009

When Maya was a baby visiting the fair, she would look at the children jumping in the slings and bounce up and down in her stroller. Every year she grew a little older, a little bigger (but not quite big enough) – every year we would stop and watch the children jumping in the slings. This was the activity that she envied the bigger kids for the most – she would look at them with longing and ask ” I’m not big enough yet???”

This year she was big enough.
