The Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA), organizer of the annual Connecticut TraiIs Weekend since 1993, has announced this year’s event sites and activities for the state’s National Trails Day® celebration on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7.

With over 200 free, guided activities that include hiking, biking, horseback riding, running, trail maintenance, kayaking, educational walks, bird watching and letterboxing, happening in 3 out of every 4 Connecticut towns, the event offers a great opportunity for people of all ages and interests to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

Those who do attend events will be able to receive a free Official CT Trails Weekend Patch for participating. According to CFPA Executive Director Eric Hammerling, “Our goal is to get as many people as possible out on the Connecticut trails and we thought the CT Trails Weekend patch would be a great way to commemorate that participation.”

Information on the free patch offer as well as a full listing of all Trails Weekend events organized by town, activity and interest can be found online at www.ctwoodlands.org or in the Connecticut Trails Weekend printed booklet available at town/city halls, nature centers, state parks, outdoor retailers and public libraries.

Connecticut Trails Weekend Fun with Fido

People aren’t the only ones who enjoy trails. Our four-legged canine friends like them too. You know what they say—a good dog is a tired dog. Give Fido some fun trail time this year, and take your furry companion to a dog-friendly Connecticut Trails Weekend hike or walk on June 6 and 7. Look for events with the dogs welcome (paw print) icon in the online directory or in the printed booklet. Or check out the list of 95 dog-friendly events listed here. Remember, dogs must be on leash and well behaved around other people and other dogs. If you have questions, contact the event leader/organizer listed in the event description directly.

Connecticut Trails Weekend is Accessible for All

Connecticut Trails Weekend is a wonderful outdoor celebration that not only happens at diverse locations across the state, but also offers a wide range of activities for diverse participants. There is something for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy—from hikes on rugged terrain to paddles on calm rivers to nature exploration on flat rail trails.
