Word Filled Wednesday – He Calms The Storm

We’ve had our fair share of violent thunderstorms this week – enough to make even adults feel timid! Here’s a Bible craft to help the children (in all of us) to remember that even in stormy times, we are not alone.

Stormy and Calm Sea Picture

1. Cut the sections for the picture from the pattern below. (click on the image to bring the pattern to full size). Use light blue paper for the water, white paper for the white cloud and boat, yellow paper for the sun and lightning, and black paper for the black cloud.

2. For the bacground, take a full sheet of medium blue construction paper. Make a 3 1/2 inch fold down from one of the narrow sides.

3. Glue the boat on the water at the bottom of the blue background.

4. Beneath the flap, glue the black cloud and lightning. Fold down the top flap and glue the white cloud and sun in place.

5. Use the picture with the lesson on Jesus calming the sea –  Luke 8: 22-25

‘Jesus awoke, and rose up, and looked out upon the sea. He said to the waves, “Peace, be still!” And at once the wind ceased, the waves were quiet, and there was a great calm.’
